The rivers flowing through Nigeria include: the Sanaga, the Benue, the Niger, the Kaduna, the Rima, the Sokoto and the Kross. The Adamawa Mountains is the centre of the highlands, which spread from the west of Cameroon (the Western and North-Western provinces) through the south-east of Nigeria back to Central Cameroon. There are also other peaks, such as Bambuto (2,740 m) and Mbam (2,335 m). It has a volcanic origin its average height is about 1,000 m. It covers the south-east of Nigeria, the west and the centre of Cameroon and the west of the CAR. The Adamawa Plateau occupies a vast territory between the Benue River in the north-west and the Sanaga River in the south-east. The Adamawa Range is a highland (plateau) in Cameroon, Nigeria and the Central African Republic. The south of the country is dominated by tropical forest, while the north is occupied mostly by savannas.
The highest plateau is the Djos Plateau (1,735 m). In Nigeria, flattened forms of terrain are common - 2/3 of its territory is leveled plateaus, while the rest of the territory is plains. In the South, Nigeria is washed by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Nigeria borders on Benin the west, Niger in the north, Chad in north-east and Cameroon in the east and south-east.
