She is defined as a 'major hard-ass' by her subordinates but no one can argue she gets the job done. Thatcher is a conservative fighter and doesn't like making gambles with her team.
That in itself highlights her priorities. Her teams had the fewest casualties during the uprising and took some of the fewest lives. She has an excellent performance record both back on earth and in Andromeda. Not much is known about the brittle, commanding woman.
